  1. Get 2 fried piece of Rui/Rohu fish
  2. Take 1 tbsp black mustard seed paste
  3. Provide 1 tbsp poppy seed paste
  4. You need 1 small onion paste
  5. You need 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  6. Take 1/3 tsp garlic paste
  7. You need 1 small chopped tomato
  8. Prepare 1 dry red chilli
  9. Provide 1 Bay leaf
  10. Take 2-3 black pepper corns
  11. You need 1 green cardamom
  12. You need 1 small stick of cinnamon
  13. Take 2 cloves
  14. Take 4 tbsp Mustard oil
  15. You need 1 tsp chilli powder
  16. Use 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  17. Prepare 1 tbsp curd
  18. You need to taste Salt and sugar
Steps to make Rongoboti Rui:
  1. Heat mustard oil and add the dry red chilli, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaves, peppercorns and cardamom.
  2. Once the garam masalas changes colour add onion paste and ginger garlic paste and saute over medium flame
  3. After 2-3 minutes add chilli powder and turmeric powder and mix it well
  4. Add the chopped tomatoes. And fry till the oil sides. (Add little water at regular intervals to avoid burning)
  5. Add mustard seed paste and poppy seed pasteband cook for about 3-4 minutes
  6. Add curd and give it a good mix.
  7. Add the fried fish and salt and sugar to taste and coat the fish with the gravy and cook for about 4minutes at low flame
  8. Now add a cup of water and cover the pan with a lid bring it to boil and let the gravy reduce. Cook for 7mins
  9. Now check the gravy and reduce as required.
  10. Adjust seasoning.
  11. Turn off the flame. Garish with beated curd.
  12. Tastes best with steamed rice.
