The ingredients needed to make Tomato Rasam:
- Use 1/2 tsp Toor Dal
- Provide 1 tsp musturd seeds
- You need 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Prepare 1/2 tsp corriander seeds
- Get 1/4 tsp methi seeds
- Provide 1/4 tsp hing
- Take 14-15 curry leaves
- Get 4 red dry whole chillies
- Use 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- Get 4 garlic cloves
- Provide 2 tbs oil
- Get 3 chopped tomatoes
- Provide 1 cup chopped corriander leaves with stems
- Take 1/2 cup Tamarind water
- Get 1 & 1/2 cup water
- Use 1/2 tsp haldi powder
- Provide Salt to taste
Instructions to make Tomato Rasam:
- Heat up a pan on low heat and dry roast all the spices untill nice aroma comes.(Toor dal, musturd seeds,cumin seeds,methi dana, corriander seeds,hing,curry leaves,red chillies,garlic & black pepper powder)
- After cool down..Put them in a blender jar and make a course powder out of it.
- Heat up a pan with 2 tbs of oil.Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, few curry leaves, red chilli, 3 finely chopped garlic and Saute them for 30 sec.
- Now add chopped Tomatoes as well as salt and haldi powder.Mash them with spatula and cook untill get soft.
- Now add 1/2 cup Tamarind water. Cover it and cook for 2 mins. Add prepared dry roast masala and mix well.
- Now add 1 & 1/2 cup of water..let the water comes to a boil. Then add chopped corriander leaves with stems.
- Mix and cook for 1 min. Then switch off the flame and serve hot with steam rice.
