Steps to make Idli sambhar:
  1. Firstly, in a large kadai heat, 2 tsp oil and splutter tempering.
  2. Add  onion 2 chilli and saute for a minute till it changes colour. - - further, add 2 tomato and continue to cook.
  3. Now add mixed vegetables and saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Further, add ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp jaggery, 1 tsp salt and 1 cup water.
  5. Mix well, cover and boil for 10 minutes. - - now add ¾ cup tamarind extract and mix well.
  6. Cover and boil for 10 minutes.
  7. Additionally, add 1 cup toor dal, water and mix well.
  8. Add in 4 tsp of prepared sambar powder.
  9. Boil for a minute, until the flavours are well absorbed.
  10. Add in 2 tbsp coriander leaves and mix well.
  11. Finally, enjoy idli sambar with hot steamed idli.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with idli or dosa or pongal. This sambar should be watery, so adjust the consistency by.
